Chapuis, Corton Perrieres - Corton Perrieres Grand Cru 2022

Domaine Chapuis relies on 170 years of family tradition and is located at the foot of the Corton hill in Burgundy. Claire and her brother Pierre represent the 6^th generation. Since 2018, they manage the estate alongside their parents, Maurice and Anne-Marie. The estate has been passed on from generation to generation since 1850. Everything started when Pierre Pavelot bought the first vineyard plot of one hectare plus 0.60 hectares of Charlemagne with his brother.

The vineyard spreads over 11 hectares in Côte de Beaune around the Corton hill, with 8 Village, Grands Crus and Premiers Crus appellations, both red and white.

The vineyard is between 250 and 330 meters of altitude Corton Perrières is adjacent to the plot Les Languettes.

Corton Grand Cru Les Perrières is an east-facing climat situated on the hillside where an old stone quarry was located, which gave the name "Perrières".

It is the perfect wine for ageing, with great power and good structure.

(Corton AOC; 100% Pinot Noir; perfectly situated in the mid-slope where there was once as old stone quarry giving its name to this mythic climat; 13.5% alcohol; tasted first at the Joanne press tasting and then, with more conducive glassware and with more success, in Paris). Lithe and limpid, grippy and sapid, this is perhaps the most structured of the three Corton expressions. Like the Corton-Chaumes, the exudes crushed red berries picked at perfect ripeness. Tasted first in Bordeaux I found this, like a lot of youthful Corton, a little burly and boisterous. But it’s much more refined and delicate, despite the considerable depth, power and concentration when I return to it in Paris almost two months later. Roses. Black tea. A little hint of darker berry fruits with gentle aeration. Very impressive indeed and, like the others, likely to represent excellent value.

Concentrated and intense, with a core of blueberry and raspberry fruits, a dusting of white pepper, liqourice, and saffron, great rise through the palate, subtle yet with grip and length, and a mouthwatering signoff. 1ha of vines.
