Wine Advocate 85-87 / 100 byNeal Martinthe4/27/2012 The Le Dragon de Quintus is a blend 54.3% Merlot and 45.7% Cabernet Franc. It has an intense nose with very expressive Merlot that unusually shoves the Cabernet out the way. The palate has a sweet entry with touches of pain grille coating the ripe red fruits. Fine tannins and nice build in the mouth towards a light but tensile, steely finish. Tasted April 2012
Jancis Robinson 16 / 20 byJulia Harding MWthe4/24/2012 Drink 2017-2024 Quintus is the new name for Haut de Daugay and this is the first vintage under Dillon ownership (the estate was bought in June 2011). 54.3% Merlot, 45.7% Cabernet Franc. Deep bright crimson. Fragrant with both red and dark fruit. Juicy, gently smoothed tannins. Refined tannins and pretty, lightly spiced fruit to a gentle lingering finish. (JH)
