Steinmetz- Neumagener Rosengartchen Riesling GG - Mosel 2024
Günther Steinmetz: Passionate craftsmanship on the Moselle slopes
The Günther Steinmetz estate in Brauneberg, Moselle, has been run by Stefan Steinmetz since 1999. This 12-hectare family vineyard is planted exclusively with Riesling and Pinot Noir grapes, grown on the region's typical schist slopes. The estate's philosophy is based on sustainable viticulture and minimalist, additive-free winemaking to preserve the integrity of the terroir. The wines are distinguished by their minerality, liveliness and ageing capacity, faithfully reflecting the specific characteristics of the Moselle terroir.
Neumagener Rosengärtchen Riesling GG
The Neumagener Rosengärtchen Riesling GG from Günther Steinmetz is a 100% Riesling from the Mosel, sourced from the Neumagen-Dhron vineyard on the “Rosengärtchen” parcel. The steep terraced slate soils and ideal exposure give the wine remarkable minerality and tension. Crafted in a dry to very dry style, it displays crystalline finesse, vivid aromatics, and a great ageing potential, emblematic of Steinmetz’s most prestigious cuvées.
The 2024 vintage
Tasting notes
The Neumagener Rosengärtchen Riesling GG 2024 from Günther Steinmetz reveals an intricate bouquet of grapefruit zest, lime blossom, acacia, rose, and orange flower, enhanced by touches of thyme, mint, and a delicate smoky note. On the palate, it is radically mineral, yet shows remarkable concentration and balance. Its vibrant, saline energy drives a long, almost endless finish, offering both depth and precision. A dry Mosel masterpiece, produced in very limited quantities, already impressive but destined to reach its full potential from 2027 onward.
