Pavillon Blanc, Second Vin - Bordeaux 2023
Pavillon Blanc, Second Vin: the second white wine of Château Margaux
For over two centuries, Château Margaux has been crafting an exceptional white wine. Originally known as Château Margaux Vin Blanc de Sauvignon, it was renamed Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux in 1920. Produced from an historic 11-hectare vineyard, this wine is a testament to the estate’s heritage and unwavering commitment to excellence.
In its relentless quest for perfection, Château Margaux has spent years refining the selection of its old Sauvignon Blanc vines to continually enhance the quality of Pavillon Blanc. This precision-driven approach led to the creation of a second white wine, which last year earned its place within the estate’s portfolio of fine wines. Meticulously crafted from a rigorous selection of 20 lots, this second wine is the result of a demanding sorting process, with a third selection being declassified. Remarkably, in the estate’s five-century history, it is only the fifth wine to be introduced. Made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc, like its illustrious predecessor, it is celebrated for its vibrant freshness and impressive ageing potential, effortlessly reaching up to twenty years.
