Nez café, plutôt moka, flatteur mais un peu international, bouche avec des notes de cuisson de fruits, une pointe d'amertume, serré, tanins présents en finale. Rendements : 28 hl/ha. Assemblage définitif : merlot 75 %, cabernet franc 25 %.

A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc cropped at a low 28 hectoliters per hectare, this chunky, narrowly constructed St.-Emilion reveals elevated tannins, fig pudding-like fruit, medium body and an awkward finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years as it will not get any better.

Atypically charming and approachable for Canon, the 2003 exhibits a deep plum/ruby color as well as a sweet bouquet of black cherries, ripe currants, and a hint of figs. With lush fruit on the attack, medium body, light to moderate tannin, and excellent texture, concentration, and purity, it should be at its finest between 2007-2018.

Aromas of blackberry and lightly toasted oak with just an undertone of vanilla. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a lovely, silky texture. Best after 2010. 3,665 cases made.

The finest effort yet produced under the new owners (the proprietors of the haut couture fashion house of Chanel), the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2003 exhibits aromas of flowers, red as well as black currants, a soft, generous attack and mid-palate, outstanding purity, and good minerality. This is an elegant, savory, full-flavored Canon that should be accessible in 2-3 years, and last for 15-16.

Le plus élégant, le plus fin de Saint-Emilion. Il n'échappe pas au genre du millésime, mais présente davantage de fraîcheur, un plus beau style, plus soyeux que chez la plupart de ses concurrents. Encore une fois, Canon est vraiment au top. 2008 à 2006.

Canon appears to be getting back on track after an uninspiring, listless period. Major investments have been made under a new regime. No one doubts this vineyard’s terroir is of undeniably high quality. Firmly structured with plenty of tannin, but also plenty of character and race, it exhibits a deep ruby/purple color as well as a bouquet of minerals, crushed rocks, raspberries, and cherries. This medium-bodied, restrained, classically rendered 2003 will be at its finest between 2008-2015.
