A blend from the Castillon region of Bordeaux, as well as grapes from Monbousquet and Pavie that didn’t make the cut, the 2017 Pavie Esprit de Pavie checks as 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a sappy, spicy, red fruit-driven profile as well as medium body, silky tannin, and notable purity of fruit. It gives a touch of Pavie without the cost.
