The 2024 Opalie de Coutet pops from the glass with exuberant notes of honey-drizzled pears, Golden Delicious apples, and allspice with a waft of baking bread. The light to medium-bodied palate is racy with bags of citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a chalky finish.

Feinduftig, mit weissen Blüten, grünem Apfel, kühlem Stein, kalkiger Mineralik; am Gaumen rassig, frisch, lebhafte Säure, delikate Frucht, feingliedrig, mit viel Trinkfluss, fast schon burgundisch im Stil, mit angenehm langem, kalkigem Finale.

The 2024 Opalie, matured in 20% to 25% new oak with around 10% going through malolactic conversion, has a well-defined bouquet with dew-dappled green apple and citrus scents opening in the glass. The palate is where the action is, with fresh orange zest and Japanese yuzu on the entry. Its cutting acidity lends tension with ample weight and length toward the harmonious and lingering finish. This is excellent.
