A big, Porty, raisiny wine. Very ripe plum and hints of mineral and spice on the nose. Full-bodied, thick and rich, with big, silky tannins. Slightly hot finish. Rather rustic but impressive. Best after 2006. 6,665 cases made.

The stylish, savory 1998 exhibits a dark ruby color with purple nuances. The complex nose of berry fruit, dried herbs, new saddle leather and toast is followed by a medium-bodied wine with a sweet mid-palate, excellent concentration and purity, as well as a classically balanced, finesse-styled finish. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2014.
