Borgogno - Barolo Annunziata Riserva - Barolo Ac. 2019
NEW WINE!
Borgogno, located in the very heart of Barolo, represents the historical memory of the Langa and its great wines. For generations it is the loyal interpreter of a territory and heritage which are made up of unique values and knowledge, but always with an eye to the future. As the inscription in the centre of the wine cellar proudly declares:
“Nothing is immortal, except for a wine that is conceived in a slow, methodical, thrifty and stubborn manner. This is what we’ve been doing since 1761”.
Of Borgogno’s total vineyard holdings of 40 hectares, 16 are located in the municipality of Barolo. These are divided between 5 historical vineyards: Liste, Fossati, Cannubi, Cannubi San Lorenzo and San Pietro delle Viole.
A new vineyard has joined the family: the Annunziata vineyard. This renowned cru lies among the rolling, sinuous hills of La Morra, where the compact soil boasts a rich clay texture and excellent water retention. Here, the 0,9ha vineyard is cultivated like a secret garden.
The 2019 vintage
2019 was a year of traditional trends in the vineyard, but certainly not without surprises. In the vineyard, the vintage got off to a slow with a consequent delay in the start of the spring season. The beginning of April was characterized by important rains that helped to create an excellent water reserve in the soil, in perspective of summer season. Unstable weather continued until early summer. In June the temperatures got warmer and thanks to the accumulation of water in the soil, this led to a rapid vegetative development. 2019 was a hot summer, culminating in July with a new heat wave, which ended with even intense storms, but which fortunately did not cause damage to the vineyards.
Tasting notes:
Ruby red with garnet highlights. On the nose hints of red fruit, such as raspberries and cherries, together with light hints of spices. On the palate a pleasant acidity and fragrance that gives the typical freshness of Barolo from Annunziata M.G.A..A deep wine accompanied by fine tannins.
