A blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc from more gravelly, sandy soils and aged 16 months in 35% new French oak with the balance in neutral barrels, foudre, and amphora, the 2023 Château La Tour Figeac is a solid wine offering mostly red (there’s some black) fruit, camphor, loamy soils, and some spicy, tobacco nuances. I love its balance on the palate, and it's medium-bodied, with soft, integrated tannins, loads of charm and character, and outstanding length. Drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2026-2038.
