The Dry White Suduiraut - Bordeaux 2017

In 2017, the climate was generally dry and warm. Spring was normal and the bud break was a little ahead. This precocity was damaged by two frost episodes on April 21st and 27th. The vineyard was affected on the periphery and up to 25-30% overall. These meteorological conditions caused a heterogeneity of development in the vineyard with almost a month apart from one plot to another, and rainfall was high in May and early June. The teams were reinforced to cope with the extra work and then the summer happily arrived with a hot and dry weather. During the ripening period, a little rain facilitated the ripening progress, the vineyard was a week ahead. The harvest took place from August 29th to September 6th. This precocity led to an early harvest in August, the second time in 15 years, to preserve the acidity of the berries. We started with Sauvignon Blancs and Semillons from 25-30 years old. A bit of rain at the beginning of September interrupted us for two days and we finished the harvest on younger plots from the 4th to the 6th of September.

Just bottled, the 2017 Blanc Sec offers up attractive scents of citrus peel and white flowers. The 50% Sémillon adds texture, but the Blanc Sec remains a wine of built on freshness and energy. Drink this refreshing aperitif-style dry white over the next 2-3 years.
