Le cru s'agrandit encore, les rendements en légère baisse sont significatifs de la volonté de la fille et du gendre de Jean à être plus sévères dans le contrôle des charges. Le vin semble moins trapu et vineux que le 2005, plus intransigeant et intense dans sa texture, assez année en 6 par rapport aux années en 5, et bien trop jeune pour qu'on puisse voir dans quelle direction il part. Seule certitude, il faut l'attendre encore dix ans.

Very dark crimson. Mild and malty and very appealing. Thick and sweet and savoury as well - an appealing combo. Though perhaps rather less obviously terroir-driven than most earlier vintages. Lightly green tannins on the finish but so light that I think this will make very appealing old bones. But very very youthful at the moment. Rich and then a bit drier on the finish with less stuffing than the 2005. Drink 2016-30

Always an over-achiever, Sociando Mallet is built for 20-30 years of longevity. The elegant, powerful, but backward 2006 requires patience. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025.

(tasted from cuve Good red-ruby. More perfumed aromas of dark fruits, spices and minerals, with complicating herbal and spicy nuances. A step up in concentration and stuffing from the 2007. In an elegant, savory style, with enticing minerality and good breadth. Finishes with firm, dusty tannins and good length. Evolving nicely.

Une fois encore, il s'agit d'une des stars du millésime. Un vin à l'éclat superbe, dot d'un fruit net et de grande définition en bouche. Un Sociando puissant mais raffiné, qui évoluera à merveille.

Sa couleur est d'une intensité rare avec des nuances allant du noir bleuté vers une couleur aubergine sur le bord du verre. Au nez, le vin est tout d'abord assez introverti mais s'ouvre vite dsur une trame très réglissée. Nous lui avons trouvé des arômes de fruits noirs très mûrs, cassis, mûres, myrtilles, des notes flatteuses de fleurs, roses, pivoines et violettes. L'élevage se démarque par de légères notes de fumé, de poivre et de cacao. En bouche, le vin est plus austère en apparence avec des flaveurs de fruits qui sont vite couvertes par la structure acide et tannique où l'on retouvre le côté réglissé. Moins bien réussi que 2005. Un vin de garde sans nul doute. A boire avant 2020/22

Kräftiges rubingranat, violette Randaufhellung. In der Nase rauchig, frische dunkle Beeren, etwas Schlehen, mineralische Nuancen, SChoko. Am Gaumen saftig, frische rotbeerige und zitronige Nuancen, feste Tannine. Weichseln im Nachhall, wirkt etwas weitmaschig, ewtas austrocknendes Finish.

This classic wine is built for long-term aging (the French expression is vin de garde). A saturated purple color is followed by an extraordinary nose of graphite, cold steel, black currant jam, and a subtle truffle/earthy note. Powerful with highly extracted richness, high tannins, and the concentration necessary to stand up to the wine’s structure, it will require 7-10 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades thereafter.
