This is the superb expression of the Saint-Émilion that I desire. Behind the elegance comes the splendor, a demeanour to counter all challenges with composure. What it lacks in pronounced fruit scents is made up by fine details. Flowing around the fragrances of raspberry and cranberry are the aromas of peony and fresh black tea. Flowers, red fruits, crushed rocks, licorice and cherries are found with ease on the nose and round, soft-edged, fresh, bright, medium-bodied, red berry packed palate. The wine finishes with salty tannins, red fruits, licorice and coffee bean. This is a bit better on the nose than on the palate, which could use more depth. Drink from 2023-2038. 89-91

The 2021 Le Prieuré has as well-defined bouquet with lifted, quite floral red berry fruit mixed with subtle loamy scents. The palate is well-defined with finely chiselled tannins, taut and fresh with a sensual finish. Not a powerful Saint-Émilion, yet this continues this estates strong run of form.

The 2021 Le Prieuré is a pretty wine, but in this vintage it comes across as a bit lithe and lacking in depth. Sweet floral and spice accents lead into a core of bright, delineated fruit. Le Prieuré has been top-notch in recent years, but the 2021 is a bit underwhelming.

Da ist er wieder, dieser herrliche Veilchenduft, dazu dunkle und rote Beeren, Kräuter, das Holz kaum spürbar, verspielt und mit Tiefgang. Im Gaumen straff, delikate Frucht, fein verwobene Tannine, alles ist an seinem Platz, der Wein hat genügend Druck, bleibt dabei elegant und zeigt im Abgang eine sehr gute Länge, endet auf Granatapfel und ein Hauch Zimt. Nicht so konzentriert wie in den Vorjahren, dem Jahrgang entsprechend schlank, doch super stimmig. 2026-2040+ (Verkostet im April 2022. AGCCSE/Château Dassault/Dourthe)

Violette, mure, cassis, fleurs de printemps avec une trame plus épicée et terrienne en finale. Tendu, droit, des tanins fermes mais élégants, une finale aérienne et une belle expression aromatique. Une belle bouteille en devenir si les élevages sont respectueux du fond.
