Bright red-ruby. Scented nose offers violet, minerals, menthol, tobacco leaf and pipe tobacco. The palate displays lovely subtle intensity and inner-mouth perfume, with precise flavors of red fruits, minerals and mint expanding and rising on the firm back end. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and a light touch. With 24 hours in the recorked bottle, this showed a somewhat darker, deeper fruit quality, with the menthol and mineral notes coming to the fore. Should repay a few years in the bottle but shows the fairly soft structure characteristic of the year.

The delicious 2007 is the first Petrus in a number of years that can be drunk immediately. Relatively big for the vintage, it offers a dark plum/ruby/purple color as well as aromas of mulberries, black cherries, cedarwood, and soil undertones, loads of fruit, a plump, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, silky tannins, and low acidity. It should drink nicely for 15 or more years.... Drink 2010-2025

This offers pure, subtle fruit, with blackberry, sliced mushroom and blueberry notes. Full-bodied and balanced, with silky tannins, a pretty finish and just the right amount of wood. Powerful for the vintage. Best after 2014.

Saturated ruby-red. Complex nose melds black raspberry, minerals, bitter chocolate and some enticing floral high tones. Very suave on entry, then densely packed and vibrant, with mouthcoating flavors of blackberry and licorice. Finishes with ripe, integrated tannins and lovely lingering violet perfume.

Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Randaufhellung. In der Nase saftige, dunkle Beerenfrucht mit einem zarte Hauch Hagebuttenjam, Schlehenbeeren, gewürzige Nuancen, Edelhozanklang. Am Gaumen feines Kirschenkonfit, zart nach Orangen, feiner Tanninteppich, der den Mund gut auskleidet, extraktsüße Frucht im Nachhall, mineralischer Nachhall, zeigt sein edles Geblüt.

Nez réducteur, vin en longueur, tanins doux en bouche, dans un style réservé, trapu, pas de dureté, une première séquence même assez moelleuse, plus austère ensuite. Un côté cistercien, dépouillé, sans fioriture ajoutée. Bref, d'une belle pureté.

This has a surprisingly light nose for Petrus. It wakes up after 2-3 minutes with some attractive brambly fruit, Doris plum and a touch of dried orange peel. The palate is much better; very good fruit concentration, superb balance with lovely grainy tannins. Very natural and defined with notes of blackberry leaf, briary, a touch of earth. After five minutes it begins to show its breeding. Great persistency towards the finish whilst the nose begins to coalesce. Needs patience – but worth it! Tasted April 2008.

Complet, gras, aromatiquement séduisant, Petrus se défait avec beaucoup d’aisance des conditions compliquées du millésime pour imposer une structure onctueuse et profonde, et un soyeux de texture hors norme. À la hauteur du mythe.

Rich oak over fruit on the nose. The palate is equally rich with the structure of tannins and freshness dominating the fruit at the moment. Quite masculine (particularly tasting Trotanoy just before this).

Mid purplish crimson. Notably more ‘warmth’ on the nose than most Moueix wines – even a bit of breadth and complexity. A hint of putty – could this be the clay?! Truly mouthfilling and a decisive step up from everything else in the Moueix stable this year. Real life and interest. A thoroughly complete wine that shows the superiority of the vineyard here – but at this stage it seems far from the most seductive vintage of Pétrus.

Sweet fruited and balanced with red berry and spice notes. There's a depth of fruit but not the power and intensity of 2005 or 2006. Less massive and more elegant in style, the finish long and clean. Drink 2015-2030.
