Pedesclaux - Pauillac 2021

The Lorenzetti family, a committed family

Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti purchased in 2009 this Grand Cru Classé in 1855 in Pauillac. Now, together with Manon, their daughter, they work as a family, and the atmosphere they have created on their estate is both rigorous and convivial. They are driven by the love of high quality work an the respect for the land and for the men who work it.

Respect for the terroir and for the environment have been at the heart of their approach to viticulture. Thus, once they had restructured the vineyards and acquired several high-quality plots, they have lanched its conversion to organic farming. By acting as responsible, environmentally aware citizens and by exerting ceaseless effort to improve the flavour of the wines, the Lorenzetti family have been able to highlight the unique character of the Pauillac terroir.

2021, a tailor-made vintage

The 2021 vintage began with a mild and rainy winter. Spring and summer followed with the same dynamic. The 2021 campaign proved to be highly demanding for the estate, which has been converting to organic farming since the 2019 vintage. The year was marked by exceptional mildew pressure, higher than 2018 and 2020, yet the vineyard became a benchmark in this matter.
Faced with this threat, the management of this organic vineyard demanded constant vigilance and responsiveness. The proximity of the vineyard to the Gironde estuary and its high position on the gravelly hilltop of Pauillac helped it to be protected from intense frost that affected the region in the spring of 2021.

A natural elegance

The most confidential production since 2009 and with an assemblage similar to 2018, Château Pédesclaux 2021 is considered very close to classic vintages and has great potential for storing. It is characterized by a deep and dynamic nose, with notes of small black fruits and spices. The mouth, deliciously juicy, is led by an incredible tension on the palate. Its supple, textured tannins and its sapid finish allow Château Pédesclaux to assert its unique identity

The 2021 Pédesclaux is a difficult wine to taste. Light in body, it shows limited depth of dark red cherry fruit, mocha, new leather and licorice . This was so much better en primeur.

The 2021 Château Pédesclaux is solid, even outstanding, with classic Pauillac notes of graphite and lead pencil supported by beautiful cassis-driven fruit. Medium-bodied, elegant, and balanced, it has fine tannins, reasonable mid-palate depth, and a good finish. Based on 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it's well-made, has terrific purity of fruit, and I love its overall balance. It's going to benefit from just a few years of bottle age and should drink nicely for 10-15 years if well stored.

The 2021 Pedésclaux is a strong effort that's turned out well in bottle, offering up aromas of cassis, dark berries, violets and pencil shavings, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy palate with powdery tannins, lively acids and a vibrant core of fruit.

Dark cherries, black currants, white pepper and graphite with a touch of dark chocolate and cigar box. I love the suppleness and the mid-palate fruit that give excellent width and flesh to this rather lean vintage. Medium to full body with more flesh than bones. The tannins are fine and sleek, and the finish, creamy and extensive. A commendable effort from this vintage. Shows lots of early appeal but will hold very well in the next five to seven years.

A solid Pedesclaux for the vintage, with lots of blackcurrant and blueberry aromas and flavors. Full-bodied with medium-chewy tannins and a round texture. Racy and structured. Solid. 64% cabernet sauvignon, 27% merlot, 6% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot.

Lots of cassis, graphite, and earthy minerality as well as some chocolaty notes emerge from the 2021 Château Pédesclaux, a medium-bodied, moderately concentrated, yet balanced and elegant 2021. It shows the purity and freshness of the vintage yet could use a touch more density and depth. Nevertheless, it could wind up being an outstanding wine. The blend is 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, pulled from 58% of the total production, and it's currently resting in 60% new barrels.

Un vrai plaisir avec l’échantillon déguisé à la propriété. Caractère violette typé, charme réel de texture, prise de bois parfaite. À notre sens, le vin plus fin à sa naissance que les 2018 et 2019.

Deep colour. Chinotto, bitter dark chocolate, blackcurrant aromas. Rich chocolaty palate with blackberry blackcurrant fruits, fine velvety textures, bittersweet flavours and a lovely chewy long finish. Very good density and mineral length. 64% cabernet sauvignon, 27% merlot, 3% petit verdot, 6% cabernet franc. Matured in 60% new French oak barriques. 12.97% alc

Although the fruity aromas are milder in the vintage of 2021s, the fragrances of violet and lavender of Pédesclaux are absolutely outstanding and attractive. A gentle swirl of the glass reveals the fascinating scents of "floral lady". In addition to maintaining its elegance, Pédesclaux 2021 is pretty skillful in oak aging. The velvety tannins not only soften the structure but also subtly add depth to the wine and prolongate a long way on the finish. Bravo to the pure naturalistic balance and elegance. ??2021???????????,?Pédesclaux??????????????????????,??“????”?????????“???”????,Pédesclaux 2021?????????????????????????????????,??????????????????????????????

Ripe, fresh, medium-bodied and already quite easy to taste, the wine is floral, with dark, red pit fruits and tobacco leaf to start things off in the nose. Medium-bodied, soft and polished, with flesh and freshness in the red fruits on the palate, give this just a year or two and and it should be quite a treat to taste.. The wine is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Drink from 2024-2045. 91-93

The 2021 Pédesclaux is a blend similar to the 2018 and was picked September 24 to October 5. It has a pure, oyster-shell-tinged bouquet that opens nicely with aeration, hints of brine coming through. You can almost smell the Gironde in this Pauillac. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very well balanced and precise. A mote of cracked black pepper enlivens the finish. This should age well in bottle.

The 2021 Pédesclaux presents strong Cabernet Sauvignon inflections to play off a core of dark red-fleshed fruit. Spice, menthol, tobacco and cedar follow, adding quite a bit of character to this flavorful, savory Pauillac.

Ziemlich dunkle Farbe.

It's a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.
