Pavillon du Glana - Saint-Julien 2024

The estate

Château Du Glana is situated along the banks of the Gironde estuary, nestled between the villages of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, and directly across from the renowned Château Ducru-Beaucaillou.

After changing hands several times, Mr. Gabriel Meffre acquired Château Du Glana in 1961. Over the ensuing years, the vineyard expanded from 5 to 43 hectares, nearly all in one contiguous parcel. Now, Jean-Paul Meffre, assisted by his sons Ludovic and Julien, oversees the estate. They are driven by a significant ambition: to realize the full potential of the estate.

Pavillon du Glana is the second wine of the property.

The 2024 vintage
The 2024 vintage of Pavillon du Glana emerged from a challenging year, marked by heavy rainfall and high mildew pressure. Thanks to rigorous vineyard practices, the estate preserved fruit quality. The wine stands out for its freshness, vibrant fruit, silky tannins, and harmonious texture. A rare, technical, and promising vintage produced in limited quantities, it faithfully expresses the richness of the terroir.

The 2024 Pavillon du Glana is a solid, quaffable second wine from this Saint-Julien estate. A blast of dark-toned fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather and licorice stains the palate. There's not much subtlety here, but the 2024 will make a fine house wine or by-the-glass pour. It should be a solid value, too.
