Palmer - Historical XIXth Century Wine - Vin de table 2023
Historical XIXth Century Wine, a tribute to history
In the 19th century, it was a common practice of the time to “hermitage” the wines, which meant adding to the wines a certain quantity of wine from the Rhône – notably from the region of Hermitage – whose syrah would strengthen the structure and power of the claret.
In the 21st century, Château Palmer came up with the idea of bringing this forgotten tradition back to life and launched the renaissance of its own hermitagé, the Historical XIXth Century Wine. A definitively historic wine, whose name honours the past of the great wines of Bordeaux.
This unique wine is based on ablend of emblematic parcels of Château Palmer to which is added, in a moderate proportion, a great Syrah wine from the northern slopes of the Rhone Valley - the origin of which is kept secret by the winery.
The 2023 Vintage:
« 2023, the work of time. An extended ageing of 27 months, first in barrels and then in large casks, allowed the truth of an unprecedented blend to assert itself: Northern Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot united in an unexpected, yet accomplished marriage. »
