Odyssée - Vin de France 2022
CVBG is proud to be part of the distribution of this very special wine. Odyssée is a hedonistic journey beginnig with two great French winemaking regions, an epic voyage between Bordeaux and the Southern Rhone Valley.
Odyssée is the story of a true bond, a synergy not only between these Terroirs but also between two men, friends for over 20 years : Pierre Graffeuille (also known as General Director of Montrose), and Matthieu Dumarcher (wine producer in the Rhone Valley).

Selected on their favourite Terroirs, the complementarity of the Médoc Cabernet Sauvignon and the Rhône Grenache are immediately revealed. This is the base of Odyssée. The power and tautness of the great Médoc Cabernets paired with the elegance and tastiness of the Rhône Grenaches makes for a prefect match. In order to fine-tune their creation, P. Graffeuille and M. Dumarcher perfected their blends adding a few other carefully selected grape varieties. Mourvèdre, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot enhance the richness and the complexity of Odyssée.
SYNERGY OF TERROIRS
- The Bordeaux grape varieties are grown on the excellent soils of the North Médoc. These old vines overlooking the Gironde estuary with its exceptional micro-climate are ideally situated for perfect ripening. The wines produced are dense, long, fresh and refined. They boast a true « Médoc typicity ».
- As for the southern grape varieties, they are grown on the legendary soils of the Rhône Valley, between Châteauneuf-du- Pape and Gigondas : from the famous pebbles brought by the Rhône river to the splendid clay limestone terraces of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The wines are generous, smooth, plump and offer a very attractive aromatic complexity. The alliance of these two strong and distinct characters may seem surprising. But this complementary duo allows us to create a perfect blend with a « synergetic effect ».
The 2022 Vintage: Power and Balance
Vintage : 2022 was particularly hot and dry in both regions. In the Rhône Valley, the healthy functioning of "living" clay limestone soils and organic practices have allowed the production of wines that are both dense and harmonious. In Médoc, the Cabernets benefited from exceptional ripening conditions. The synergy works wonderfully in this 2022 vintage, delivering a fleshy and juicy Odyssée, perfectly balanced.
