Mont-Pérat Blanc - Bordeaux 2022

The estate

"Humbled by mother Nature that guides us, let us capture the signals that she sends and follow her rhythm
so that every move is done at the right time, in the right place." That is the motto of the Despagne family, a family of winegrowers from the Entre Deux Mers region and owners of Château Mont-Pérat. 

The vineyard is planted on steep hillsides in the commune of Capian, in the Entre Deux Mers appellation. The white grape varieties benefit from a north-north-east exposure and a very long maturation cycle. 

Mont Pérat white 2022, another hot year

A mild and dry winter with a very early budburst.The spring is mild with very little rainfall, the flowering takes place serenely and we know that the harvest will be early: beginning on August 20th for the Sauvignons and we quickly move on to the Semillon. At the beginning of September, all the whites were in the cellar. A new record for earliness. The harvest is abundant, healthy and beautiful.

Notes of candied lemon, smoked verbena, the wine is straight with thickness and a saline finish.

The 2022 Mont-Pérat Blanc has a very simple nose with light tropical scents. The palate offers easy-drinking fare, though it misses some acidity and concludes with a peachy finish.

Carefully delivered, good quality, preserved lemons and touches of honeysuckle show the fingerprint of the vintage, but there are dried herbs to add welcome bitterness, and fresh apple and mango on the finish. Good. 3.3ph.

The 2022 Mont-Perat Blanc possesses very good richness. White flowers, dried pear, chamomile and a touch of oak are some of the nuances that unfold in this layered, creamy, expressive wine.

Round and nicely weighted with orange, grapefruit, peach and apricot nuances and a slightly high-toned citrus element giving weight on the palate with some caramel and toasted touches on the end. Nice bitter edges and lemon and orange flavour. Well worked, not too high acidity giving a slightly more gourmet feel. 3.3pH. Yield of 30hl/ha. Clay, gravel and limestone soil. The 2022 Château Mont-Pérat Blanc has a bright, racy, medium-bodied style as well as notes of crushed citrus, limes, and some chalky minerality. It's well-made in a clean, crisp, refreshing style.

The 2022 Mont-Perat Blanc is creamy and layered in the glass. Orchard fruit, mint, yellow flowers and a kiss of French oak are all laced together. There is a touch of reduction, something that is not typical of Bordeaux whites, but not enough to be overly distracting. This is promising, Drinking window : 2025-2027
