The 2016 La Sirene de Giscours comprises 58% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot. It has a pleasant black plum and incense-scented bouquet, the oak neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, black rather than red fruit here with a touch of soy towards the structured, saline finish. Give this a couple of years once in bottle.

The Merlot-based 2016 La Sirène de Giscours is soft, open-knit and pliant, all qualities that give it considerable near-term appeal. Bright red berry and expressive floral notes flesh out in glass. Effortless, juicy and inviting, the La Sirène de Giscours is a winner.

Bright and vivid second wine of Giscours shows such resounding energy with lots of blueberry and currant character. Shows its majority of merlot here. Fine and polished. Remake of the 2015?
