Magill Estate Shiraz - Penfolds - 2013
Magill Estate is a unique vineyard, and fundamentally linked to the beginnings of Penfolds. The grapes from the original vineyard of Magill Estate on the eastern outskirts of Adelaide are pressed, fermented and bred on the site of the Magill winery, created in 1844. Originally produced in 1983, Magill Estate Shiraz Is an elegant, slightly bodied style with a velvety texture and fine tannins, bred in French and American oak. It is an elegant and contemporary wine, still original in the old wine cellar of 170 years: The grapes are selected by hand, vinified in open tanks and vertical presses to complete the fermentation in barrels. Climatic conditions: The vineyard of Magill Estate has experienced almost perfect conditions during the harvest of 2013. The winter precipitations were followed by a spring and a dry summer without risk of disease. The few warm days during Christmas and early January put the vines under a certain stress but the total moisture content of the soil allowed to maintain an ideal viticulture throughout the year. The fruits were harvested in perfect condition, the grape harvest took place on 14 and 15 February 2013.
