Once again the feeling here is that this is a less gourmet vintage than 2018, but that it has a lot to recommend - juice, balance, plenty of black fruits, good firm tannins, touches of austerity. On this corner of St Emilion the soils are different from most of the appellation, with clay, sand and gravel, giving the power that you feel through the heart of this wine, and the fresh acidity that pulls things up through the finish. Good stuff.
