High ripeness, floral violet notes with dark cherry, cassis and damp tobacco leaf. Very good grip on the palate, plenty of ripe tannin, layers of dark fruit backed by a vibrant acidity, dense and lingering finish. Good purity and concentration.

L'élevage est encore marqué par des notes vanillées intenses, mais aussi une acidité fruitée, évoquantla myrtille et la mûre sauvage, et qui revient rapidement sur le devant pour une impression de gourmandise intense.

The 2020 Fontenil is really impressive. There is plenty of the richness that is such a Fontenil signature, but also a bit more energy than in the past. Succulent red cherry and plum fruit opens first, followed by cedar, licorice, dried herbs and rose petals that add nuance. All the elements come together well.

The 2020 Fontenil has a slightly candied quality on the nose of vibrant red fruit complemented by marmalade and orange zest. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine acidity, good backbone and cedar-infused black fruit on the saline finish. This is a fine Fontenil, albeit one that deserves 3–4 years in bottle.

Opaque purple-black in color, the 2020 Fontenil needs a little swirling and coaxing to release opulent scents of plum preserves, blueberry compote and chocolate-covered cherries, plus suggestions of candied violets, ground cloves and fertile loam. The full-bodied palate is rich with generous black and blue preserves layers, supported by beautifully plush tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long and fragrant.

A reserved, focused Fontenil with blackberry, dark-walnut, dark-chocolate and mushroom character. The tannins are tight and poised, lending serious tension and framework to the wine. Serious.
