The 2023 Fleur de Pédesclaux, which has a high proportion of Petit Verdot (14%), has a light bouquet that just needs more presence and fruit intensity. The palate is medium-bodied, with light tannins, a little dark chocolate infusing the black fruit but missing some complexity on the finish. Early drinking.

Blackberries, spice, and juicy red currants are the name of the game here. The wine is medium-bodied, fresh, forward, and frankly, already delicious, leaving you with a nice blast of juicy red berries in the finish. You can enjoy this on release, and for a decade or so after that. Drink from 2026-2035. 88-90 Pts.

Amazing to think about how much this wine has changed over the past decade - it was 100% Merlot until 2012, now just 32% Merlot in the blend in this vintage, as investment under Jacky Lorenzetti has entirely reworked the vineyard to reflect its soils and appellation. Delicious shot of spice on the opening, lots of freshly cut herbs, sage, rosemary, chalky tannins, floral aromatics, blackberry and cassis. 30% new oak. First vintage certified organic.

The 2023 Fleur de Pédesclaux is a powerful, rather burly Margaux marked by the strong presence of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Plum, black cherry, gravel, incense, licorice and chocolate are front and center. This exuberant, bold Margaux has plenty of character. It will make a fine bistro red.

The 2023 Fleur de Pedesclaux is deep garnet-purple in color. It bounds out with eager-to-please notes of stewed plums and red cherries plus nuances of rosebud tea, fallen leaves, and wild sage. The medium-bodied palate is soft and juicy, with well-balanced freshness and a spicy lift on the finish. The blend is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 14% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc.

The 2023 Fleur de Pédesclaux has an uncomplicated bouquet with blackcurrant, cedar and light floral scents, a touch of menthol emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannins, a crisp line of acidity and a slightly citric, linear finish. Graphite marks the aftertaste. This is very traditional in style. Drink it over six to eight years.
