The 2018 Les Fiefs de Lagrange retains a backward, almost timid bouquet that demands coaxing from the glass. It eventually responds with blackberry and briary aromas and a touch of sea spray. The palate is well balanced with succulent ripe tannins, less foursquare than out of barrel, with a more approachable finish than the aromatics. Give it, say, 18 months in bottle.

Nicely focused, with a racy beam of cassis and dark plum fruit laced with violet and anise hints. Sleek finish has a tinge of singed wood at the very end. Approachable now. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2028. 17,500 cases made. –JM

The 2018 Les Fiefs de Lagrange has a tightly wound bouquet with black cherry and light boysenberry fruit laced with cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins (especially for a Deuxième Vin) with a fresh, slightly foursquare finish. Enjoy this over the next decade.

The 2018 Les Fiefs de Lagrange is absolutely gorgeous. Hints of iron, smoke, cedar, dried flower and blood orange infuse this succulent, racy second wine. All the elements fall into place. The purity of fruit and overall sense of harmony are both commendable at this level. What a beautiful wine this is.

The 2018 Les Fiefs de Lagrange is deep garnet-purple colored with earthy, mushroomy notions and savory meats over a cassis and plums core plus herbs hints. The full-bodied palate is rich and packed with fruit, with firm, grainy tannins and a long finish.
