This has ample stuffing, with layers of plum, red currant and loganberry fruit mixed with notes of bay leaf, warm paving stone and taut red licorice. Charcoal-stained grip coats the finish. Best from 2014 through 2026. –JM

Tasted at the UGC tasting in London. The Desmirail 2010 has a bashful nose that demands coaxing: dusty black fruit and a scent of an old English stately home. The palate delivers plenty of earthy black fruit on the entry. There is good weight here with a dense spicy, slightly metallic finish. Tasted November 2012

This is not a complex wine but it offers a wonderful fruit profile of blackberries, plums and red Chinese dates. The flavours are soft, rounded and balanced by firm but tamed tannins. Very easy to enjoy with moderate length.

Elegant and expressive Margaux fruit, almost understated, but has ripeness and finesse, very attractive medium term. Drink 2015-25. (16.5 points)

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, raised in 40% new oak, the Desmirail has a slightly herbaceous nose but nothing to get worried about as there is some attractive earthy fruit to complement it. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins, crisp blackberry, graphite and cedar, quite conservative and masculine towards the finish. Fine. Tasted April 2011.

Love the nose with bright cherries and berries. Full body, with very velvety tannins and a dusty, fruity finish. Dried cherry aftertaste.

Sôuple, mûr, facile, pas complexe, agréable, boire assez vite.

The merest hint of sweet oak here on the nose. Soft, curry-powder nose. Then quite dry tannins. But all set for a pretty glorious future. Quite dramatic. Drink 2018-2028
