Vineyard
“Terroir” of gravel and clay over a clay-limestone sub-soil.
Average age of the vines: 25 years.
Density of plantation: 8 333 plants /ha.

Vine growing methods and harvesting
Traditional ploughing
Mindful soil improvement
No spraying against botrytis

Vinification and ageing
Manual harvesting from September 18th to October 11th , in small crates with sorting of the grapes before and after de-stemming.
Classical wine making in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats.
Vatting period : 25 days.
Malolactic fermentation in vats.
Ageing of 30% of the wine in new oak barrels for 12 months.

A medium-bodied red with dark fruits and notes of walnut, spiced chocolate and cedar. Firm and polished tannin structure and a velvety mouthfeel. Lingering, chalky finish. Better from 2024.

The 2020 La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet has a very floral bouquet of black currant, bilberry and seaweed scents. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit and grippy in the mouth. The slightly austere finish should flesh out during its élevage. Fine.

Soft, round, lush, fruity and polished, the wine is forward, medium-bodied and already expressive with its dark red fruits, spice and tobacco character. Enjoy this while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. 89-90

This is full and velvety with so much fruit and intensity. Ripe tannins give this nice form and plushness with plenty of fruit in the center palate. Second wine of Sociando-Mallet.
