Cloudburst - Chardonnay - Margaret River 2022
Cloudburst is a celebrated cult wine from Australia, created by American biologist Will Berliner in the remote southwestern corner of the country. Established in 2005, the one-hectare vineyard is biodynamically farmed, never cultivated or treated with chemicals. The vines are own-rooted, densely planted, and non-irrigated, thriving in ironstone gravel soils within an untouched natural environment near the Indian Ocean.
Berliner’s philosophy centers on minimal intervention, both in the vineyard and winery. He believes in working with nature, allowing the vineyard to operate as a fully integrated, living system. The pristine, isolated setting enables the grapes to reach their full, unimpeded expression, reflecting the unique characteristics of their environment.

The 2022 Vintage:
A wet winter and cool, windy spring delayed the harvest, followed by a warm, dry summer. Early heat spikes reduced red grape yields, producing fewer but highly concentrated grapes, leading to a smaller red wine production. In contrast, the Chardonnay thrived, harvested in five stages to retain acidity and develop Cloudburst’s signature rich, buttery popcorn flavors.
Tasting notes
A deeply layered, richly complex and viscerally delicious wine. Saline character like a salty margarita on your lips, fresh baked brioche, grapefruit skin, yellow peach, river stone. Structured, sumptuous, textural and impossibly long.
