Cloudburst - Cabernet Sauvignon - Margaret River 2022
Cloudburst is a celebrated cult wine from Australia, created by American biologist Will Berliner in the remote southwestern corner of the country. Established in 2005, the one-hectare vineyard is biodynamically farmed, never cultivated or treated with chemicals. The vines are own-rooted, densely planted, and non-irrigated, thriving in ironstone gravel soils within an untouched natural environment near the Indian Ocean.
Berliner’s philosophy centers on minimal intervention, both in the vineyard and winery. He believes in working with nature, allowing the vineyard to operate as a fully integrated, living system. The pristine, isolated setting enables the grapes to reach their full, unimpeded expression, reflecting the unique characteristics of their environment.

The 2022 vintage
A very wet winter was followed by a cool, wet and windy spring, delaying fruit set and veraison, which ultimately resulted in a later than customary harvest. Summer was exceptionally warm and dry with very even heat.
However early extreme heat spikes significantly shrivelled and reduced the red crop, and effectively eliminated the 2022 Cloudburst Malbec. These dry conditions produced low bunch weights and fewer, yet profoundly concentrated and tangy Cabernet grapes. This resulted in significantly diminished quantities of magnificently flavourful CloudburstCabernet.

A deeply satisfying, delicious wine. Tart morello cherry, loganberry and wild raspberry framed by lemon myrtle, rose petal, cinnamon toast, honeycomb and chocolate, seamlessly entwined.
