The 2023 Clos Lunelles was tasted on two occasions. The first, the bottle came across a little stewed, the second, at the château, just missing a bit of freshness and vitality. There remains a patina of over-ripeness. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated, quite grippy tannins. Good density, muscular in style, it has a decent line of acidity with an assertive finish. The bottle at the property actually showed much better than others, though it will need 3 or 4 years in bottle.

Aromas of ripe plums, graphite and blackberries with a touch of asphalt as well as tar. The palate is full-bodied with graphite flavors, chalky tannins and broadt fruit, leading to a chalky finish with some definition from the tannins. Cassis at the finish. 80% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 10% cabernet sauvignon. Drink or hold

Der gegenüber von Faugères gelegene Clos Lunelles ist 9,5 ha groß und verfügt über Lehm- und Kalkböden über Asterienkalkstein. Das Bouquet zeigt eine sehr schöne Fruchtintensität dank reifer schwarzer Beeren, aber die kreidigen Seiten des Kalksteins und die blumigen Nuancen verleihen eine willkommene Frische. Der Wein ist charmant im Auftakt, von guter Dichte und verfügt über feinkörnige, bestens eingebundene Tannine und eine Säure, die Temperament bildet.

The 2023 Clos Lunelles is smoking good, with a classic limestone-driven perfume of framboise, chalky minerality, flowers, and sweet spices. It's beautifully ripe, full-bodied, has velvety tannins, and a great finish. It's unquestionably a brilliant wine, and I'd wager one of – if not the – wine of the vintage in Castillon. Bravo.

Flowers, licorice, spice, chocolate-coated black cherries, mint, and black plums get the aromatics going. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, with a salty, black with red fruit core of ripe, sweet, fresh berries. The salty-chocolate fruits linger on the palate, and in the finish with their mineral-driven essence. The wine was made from blending 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc, 14.42% ABV, 3.63 pH. Drink from 2028-2040. 92-94 Pts.

The 2023 Clos Lunelles is a powerful, deep wine. A blast of dark-toned fruit, spice, menthol, chocolate, herbs and dried flowers infuse the palate with notable depth. Clean saline notes extend the finish. There's a bit more Cabernet Franc in the blend, and that comes through in the wine's flavor profile and overall feel. This is a fine vintage for Clos Lunelles.

Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Ripe plum, dark cherry, candied orange, delicate floral touch. Powerful, ripe cassis, taut minerality, fresh structure, good persistence, a full-bodied food companion.
