Le Point 15 / 20 byJacques Dupontthe6/20/2018 Fruits noirs, juteux, strict en bouche, milieu de bouche marqué par l’élevage, bonne matière, prise de bois, prometteur.
Vinous 89-92 / 100 byAntonio Gallonithe5/15/2018 The 2017 La Gurgue is a powerful, pleasantly rustic Margaux with lovely depth and texture. Smoke, licorice, new leather, chocolate and tobacco notes give the 2017 an attractive earthy quality. There is lovely depth and density in the glass. Tasted two times.
Decanter.com 88 / 100 byJane Ansonthe4/25/2018 An extremely attractive nose here, with great quality black fruits that are firmly crunchy. It doesn't have the generosity of 2015 though, and it really asks you to sit down with it to get through the austerity. The gingerbread notes on the finish help to prolong the conversation. This was partially affected by frost, giving a yield of around 25hl/ha. Undergoing biodynamic conversion. 20% new oak. Drinking Window 2023 - 2033
Jamessuckling.com 92-93 / 100 byJames Sucklingthe4/6/2018 This is a really beautiful wine with a clarity that delivers gorgeous dark fruit and firm and silky tannins. Long and polished. Demeter certified biodynamic.
Wine Spectator 88-91 / 100 byJames Molesworththe4/4/2018 Focused, with a beam of dark currant fruit flecked with anise and singed alder hints. Maintains good energy through the stylish finish.—J.M.
