Friendly, with rounded edges to the plum and cherry preserve flavors that glide through. The finish is underscored by hints of wet earth and tobacco that linger with a gentle persistence. Drink now through 2022. 1,300 cases made.  –JM

Darker fruits, including riper plum and raisins here, with fresh leafy aromas and earthy notes. The palate delivers a vibrant array of gently tart dark plums and berry amid supple, sturdy tannins. Try from 2022.

The 2015 Château La Garricq is a firm, angular red that has a touch of oak in its ripe red fruits (black raspberries, cherries) and spice-driven aromatics. With medium-bodied richness and moderate amounts of fruit and texture, drink it over the coming 7-8 years.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 la Garricq felt a little over-ripe on the nose and lacked the precision of its peers. The palate is sharp on the entry, quite high-toned with candied red fruit on the finish that needs more terroir expression and structure. Tasted September 2017.

This wine comes from a six-acre property under the same ownership as Château Paloumey. It has 20% Petit Verdot in the blend, giving it both the tannins and the dark color. It is a structured wine, rich in black plums and densely textured. The wine will be ready to drink from 2024.
