Dark crimson. Pretty ripe nose. Just the wrong side of overripeness unfortunately and then pretty demanding and pinched on the finish. Tarry and not much fun.

Lively black tea and singed anise notes lead the way, followed by black cherry and black currant fruit. A twinge of toast holds sway on the finish, but there’s ample fruit and freshness here to soak that up before bottling.—J.M.
