Chateau la Fleur Peyrabon - Pauillac 2014

The map of Belleyme dating from 1766 is the oldest trace we have of Château Peyrabon. Subsequently, the archives describe a particularly turbulent history with no less than 19 different owners between 1785 and 1998, when Millésima, a Bordeaux trading house, acquired the property. Consequently, a fundamental work is undertaken to restore the wines of Peyrabon their notoriety of yesteryear.

The 2014 La Fleur Peyrabon has plenty of smudged raspberry coulis and graphite scents on the nose, forward and just needing a little more clarity. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, simple tobacco-tinged red fruit with an easy-going finish. Drink over the next 4-5 years. Tasted September 2016.

Fruits rouges, tanins moelleux, très étoffé, épices, sanguin, bien vif, juteux, élevage délicat, complet. De 14 à 15 €.

The 2014 La Fleur Peyrabon is a soft, pretty wine that will drink well pretty much upon release. Soft floral notes meld into red-fleshed fruits in a soft, mid-weight wine that shows the more gracious side of Pauillac. Red berry, flowers, citrus and white pepper add lift on the finish.

The Château La Fleur Peyrabon 2014 has commendable fruit concentration on the nose: blackberry, raspberry coulis and cedar notes developing in the glass, although they feels just a tad smudged at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, supple tannin. There is good weight on the mid-palate, a conspicuous layer of creamy oak but it is nicely integrated into the carapace of ripe red fruit that is all very–Margaux. While not the most famous name in Margaux, this is worth looking out for.

Balanced and delicious with ripe supple tannins and dark fruits. This is a well-made, lesser-known Pauillac that will be a great bargain and delicious drink.

Blueish purple. Creamy nose but a bit tough and spiky on the palate. The fruit doesn’t seem fully ripe. Grainy and drying on the end. Ungenerous.
