This favorably situated terroir sandwiched between Cheval Blanc and the Pomerol border where La Conseillante and l’Evangile are located has produced another excellent wine for proprietor Clement Fayat. The 2011 La Dominique boasts lots of deep raspberry and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice and spice box notes, a medium-bodied mouthfeel, impressive concentration, and no herbaceousness whatsoever. This well-made St.-Emilion can be drunk early in life or cellared for 10-12 years.

This is really polished and silky with beautiful blueberry, chocolate and walnut character. It’s full-bodies with integrated tannins and a long, long finish. A triumph for the vintage. Better in 2016.

"Nous avons supporté des foyers de pourriture comme rarement. Courir ou attendre? Sans cesse, il fallait s'interroger en 2011", raconte le directeur Yannick Evenou. L'échantillon à 95% merlot, 5% cabernet franc et 85% fûts neufs livre un vin tendu, sans creux, avec une solide acidité, qui devrait être fin et très digeste.

Bright ruby-red. Cassis and dark chocolate on the perfumed nose. Rich, velvety and full, with a savory quality to the blackcurrant, plum and coconut flavors. This sweet, fruity wine has plenty of underlying backbone but finishes with slightly hard tannins.

Ripe and zesty with a generous volume of fruit and a tight, firm, long finish. Serious wine for ageing. Continues the progression here. Drink 2018-2030.

After some rough performances earlier in this century, La Dominique has returned to form over recent vintages. The dark ruby/purple-colored 2011 is a lush, ripe, fruit-driven effort displaying notes of dark raspberries, cedarwood, spice box, herbs and licorice. This medium to full-bodied, round St.-Emilion is ideal for drinking over the next decade.

Robe profonde, vin gras et ample, fruit noir frais généreux, notes de pivoine, allonge harmonieuse et charnue, bel équilbre avec des tanins de bonne constitution. Incontestablement réussi.

Blending 85% Merlot with 15% Cabernet Franc produced a wine with truffle, smoke, coffee and black raspberry scents. Silky textures and a sweet, black cherry and stone sensation are found in the wine. 90-92 Pts

A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc picked from 22nd September until the 14th October, the La Dominique was a little variable from sample to sample. At the UGC it has a clean, crisp bouquet with ripe black cherries and cassis aromas. It is harmonious with well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy entry, fleshy tannins and it shows good weight towards the finish. This is promising for future. Tasted April 2012

Black as black. Inviting, sweetly ripe but not overripe damson and cherry. Rich, chewy, full flavoured and with the flesh to carry the structure. Powerful and juicy. Long too. (JH)

Ripe, slightly hefty style, with plum skin and macerated cherry and currant fruit backed by a well-toasted finish. Verges on overextracted but has enough lift to keep it honest on the finish.—J.M.

Solid berry and currant character with mineral undertone. Full to medium body, with chewy tannins and a medium finish. Tannins are a little austere.
