One of the excellent estates run by Jean-Philippe Janoueix, La Confession has grown in size and is now nearly 19 acres. Average vine age is 39 years and the 2013, which is one of the better wines of the vintage, is a final blend of 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc. It achieved 13.7% natural alcohol with only 48% of the crop making it into his top cuvee. A nice dark bluish, plum/ruby with hints of white chocolate, creosote, black currant and cherry fruit, the wine shows beautiful attack and surprising texture and ripeness in the mid-palate. The finish has sweet tannin and the wine has the potential to be outstanding and one of the stars of the vintage. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.

The 2013 La Confession is a pretty wine marked by a significant presence of Cabernet Franc. Sweet herbs, tobacco, spices, mint and dark red stone fruits all blossom nicely in the glass. The tannins are a bit firm today, but they also help give the wine its sense of energy and length. There is a lot to like here. The blend is 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

This is very chewy and slightly overdone with lots of dried fruits and spice. Full body. A little alcoholic.

Aufhellendes Granat mit mittlerer Dichte. Florale, blumige Noten, dahinter knapp reife Johannisbeeren, vermischt mit einer Grenadine-haften Süsse. Im Gaumen geschmeidig, schöne Fülle, eine passende Konzentration zeigend, welche aber über den Jahrgangserwartungen liegt. Fällt auf als Top-Saint-Emilion.
