Although the 1995 reveals a good color, it has been consistently angular, austere, and too tannic. This is a lean, spartan style of claret that is likely to dry out before enough tannin melts away to reach a balance with the wine's fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2010.

Slightly one-dimensional, but shows some very good fruit character. Dried berry and cherry aromas, with a hint of vanilla. Medium- to full-bodied, with medium, silky tannins and a fruity aftertaste. Best after 2000. –

Although impressive when tasted from barrel, this dark ruby-colored wine is behaving much like the 1994 - too much tannin, not enough fruit, and an ungenerous, tough-textured, astringent personality. If you subscribe to the theory that a wine has to taste bad young to be delicious when old, this wine's for you. Last tasted 1/97

The 1995 appears to be a better effort than the 1994. On three separate tastings the wine displayed a deep ruby/purple color, more sweetness of fruit in both the nose and flavors, medium body, high tannin, but fine extract, richness, and flesh giving the wine a perceivable texture. It is quite backward, so do not expect any miracles for at least 4-5 years. It should keep for 15+ years.
