Chateau Le Boscq - Saint Estèphe 2011 - Cru Bourgeois
The old vines of Le Boscq, deeply rooted in a clayey subsoil, were less affected by the strong water stresses of the vintage. If the hailstorm in early September miraculously spared the vineyard, the high heat and the lack of water during the vine's growing period have reduced harvest volumes. The first Merlots were harvested as early as September 13 (a record!) Quickly followed by the Cabernets and Petit-Verdot who took advantage of the very favorable weather in mid-September. A harvest was regrouped over two weeks, with a reinforced team for an even more meticulous sort, essential key to the success of this vintage.
