Wine Advocate

Beychevelle, owners of one of the great terroirs of the northern Medoc, continues to produce wines that are frustratingly irregular in quality. This is the finest Beychevelle since 1989. The dark ruby/purple color, and nicely integrated toasty oak, floral, and sweet, blackcurrant aromas are attractive. The wine has put on some fat since I tasted it last year, exhibiting a supple, velvety-textured, moderately tannic, pure, elegant style that is typical of this property's top efforts. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2016.
