Belle expression fruitée sur des notes de fruits noirs et de griotte. Ensemble séducteur avec une texture d’une belle consistance et une finale fruitée.

The 2015 Vray Croix de Gay has a crisp bouquet with blackberry, undergrowth, sage and black truffle scents, a little disjointed at first but gaining cohesion with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a crisp line of acidity, nicely focused with a tensile and quite persistent finish. This has developed nicely during its élevage and should give plenty of drinking pleasure over the next 15 to 20 years. Anticipated maturity: 2021 - 2038.

The 2015 Vray Croix de Gay is just as alluring from bottle as it was from barrel. Inky, powerful and explosive, the 2015 exudes richness in all of its dimensions. Blueberry jam, crème de cassis, licorice, menthol, spice and lavender form an exotic mélange of aromas and flavors, but it is the wine's balance and sense of proportion that are most impressive. Even with all of its intensity, the 2015 remains gracious and light on its feet for such a rich wine. This sumptuous, inviting Pomerol is a star in the making. Don't miss it.

Solid, if a bit chunky in feel, with a mix of red and black currant notes backed by brambly grip. Notes of ganache and apple wood fill in. Offers a light anise echo and some freshness through the finish, so this might settle in with some cellaring. Best from 2020 through 2028. 900 cases made.  –JM

Complex aromas of dark fruits, mushrooms, orange peel and dried flowers follow through to a full body. Round and velvety tannins and a chewy, rich finish. A gorgeous young wine. Needs four or five years to soften. Drink in 2022 and onwards.

Just 3ha in size, part owned by Artemis of Latour, with Penelope Godefroy as winemaker. This is fabulous, one of the finds of the tasting - tight but juicy dark fruits show great complexity with fine tannins. A sexy Pomerol, but not overly so, this is elegant and compelling.

The 2015 Château Vray Croix de Gay has a modest blackberry and iodine scented bouquet, a subtle seaweed scent developing with aeration. The palate is smooth on the entry with fine tannin, a little more lactic than its peers but with fine depth, harmonious to the finish - though there is a bit of oak to be absorbed on the finish. I would have liked more sophistication and finesse to come through on this wine, because their parcels are so well located on the plateau. Hopefully it will just gain a little more complexity through its élevage. Drink 2020-2035

Dimension souple et généreuse, mais intensité limitée pour un tel terroir. Grain de tannin distingué avec un bel étirement et une fraîcheur de constitution bienvenue.

The Latour presence is obviously working. Super depth of fruit but marked by an elegant texture and refined tannins. Smooth and long with good persistence. Harmonious. 2022-2035

The 2015 Vray Croix de Gay is superb. Dark, inky and towering in its presence, the 2015 possesses magnificent concentration and stature. The flavors literally soar as the 2015 shows off its personality. Impossibly young today, the 2015 is likely to age well for years and decades. Mocha, plum, black cherry and lavender are fused in the huge, towering finish. This is a stunning, refined wine long on class and pedigree. Vray Croix de Gay is now partly owned by the Artemis Group. Jean-Claude Berrout consults.

Wirkt in seiner Ausstrahlung eher artisanal. 17/20 2023 – 2038

Very fine and silky with ripe tannins and beautiful fruit. Lots of of walnut, plum and chocolate character. Orange peel. Tangy acidity. Shows promise.

A direct style, with a core of plum, cherry and red licorice notes, backed by judicious toast. A light mineral echo gives this extra range.—J.M.
