Chantegrive rouge - Graves 2023
The estate
If you like heart-warming stories, this is one of them. This story begins in 1966 when Henri and Françoise Leveque decided to create what would later become Chateau de Chantegrive.
Henri and Françoise formed what today we would call a 'dream team' : a visionary, loving couple, passionately enthusiastic about wine. They believed in the magnificent terroir of the Graves region, and this decided them to sell their precious stamp collection in order to purchase their two first hectares of vines. In 1985, the Château was admitted to the prestigious Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux and in 1990, Marie-Hélène Lévêque join the management team at Chantegrive an was confirmed a few years later as the General Manager of the estate. The new generation has now taken over the management and continue to work with passion for this estate.
The 2023 Vintage:
In terms of climate, 2023 marks a return to normal, without extremes. This is reflected in a balanced richness of the juices with moderate degrees, on average 0.5 degrees lower than the 2022 vintage.
The Merlots and Cabernets have very beautiful deep and bright colors, which testify to the perfect quality of the grapes at harvest. Red fruits, violet and peony are characteristic of this vintage. During tastings, the wines are smooth, already provide a lot of pleasure in the mouth and suggest a beautiful future.
Blend: 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon.
