Ceres (BIO-ORGANIC) - Haut-Médoc 2022

CUVÉE WITHOUT ADDED SULFITES, ORGANIC & BIODYNAMIC

Named after the roman goddess of agriculture and fertility, the cuvée CERES comes from a plot cultivated with agroecology and agroforestry practices. It reflects a philosophy that guides Claire Lurton and her teams in their daily relationship with the land, the vines and the terroir. CERES is part of a global movement and a long-term commitment to winemaking that is both ethical and bold.


VINEYARD: 8 hectares of merlot, on a single plot, located on the hamlet of Vertheuil, in Pauillac North.

SOIL: clay-limestone

THE AGEING : 6 months in concrete vats. No added sulfites.

TASTING COMMENTS
Fruity notes on the nose, such as strawberry or redcurrant, with a mineral touch. Beautifully supple. This vintage seduces with its freshness and minerality, its purity and its fruity aromatic structure.

Intense cassis fruits with dried herbs and a heavy dose of spice, a little tight on the finish, the Merlot acting a little atypically in such a hot vintage. Six months in concrete vats, no added sulphur.

This well-crafted natural wine is a juicy and pure merlot with a round and velvety texture and crunchy fruit that is refreshing and delicious. No sulfur added. Partially made in amphora. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Ceres is 100% Merlot done entirely in cement with no added SO2, is especially juicy and bombastic. I am not sure how this will age, but it sure is delicious. A blast of dark cherry, plum, licorice, menthol and sage hits the palate, making a strong impression as it announces the exuberant style of the year to the maximum.
