Rather an easy-drinking wine for St.-Estèphe with sweet fruit and moderate tannins until you hit the firm, dry finish. Nowhere near as oaky as this used to be.

A bold, racy wine, the 2014 Haut-Marbuzet offers notable depth, richness and intensity. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, smoke, leather, licorice and tobacco add aromatic intensity, but above all else, the 2014 stands out for its sexy, radiant personality. This a gorgeous wine from the Duboscq family.

The 2014 Haut-Marbuzet is ripe, flashy and totally distinctive. Exotic floral notes are woven throughout a core of dark red cherry, plum, smoke and licorice. This exuberant, racy St. Estèphe should drink well pretty much upon release and for another 10-15 years beyond. The Duboscq family can always be counted on for a unique and deeply personal expression of St. Estèphe.

A pleasing depth of color, a nose of espresso, earth, blackberry and a sniff of the old cigar box, this wine finishes with a blast of plush, full basket of blackberries and cocoa. 89-91 Pts

The Château Haut-Marbuzet 2014 is a blend of 40% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has a typically opulent and "ravishing" bouquet with layers of rounded, "sexy" red fruit, tempered perhaps by the cool July and August. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin, good depth of fruit, quite dense with mint-tinged blackberry and raspberry, with a citric note right on the finish. Sometimes the style of this Saint Estèphe can be a bit over the top, but in 2014 it has actually turned a really quite refined and satisfying wine. Superb. Tasted on four occasions.

Vibrant fruit with fresh acidity and tannins that are quite firm and astringent on the finish. Cassis, cedar and spices with juicy cherry in the finish. Well done in this vintage for Haut-Marbuzet vs. previous 3 vintages.

Good florality and lifted fruit, smooth ripeness and a persistent finish. Drink: 2018-2026 (88)

Plenty of good fruit here. Full body, fresh fruit and ripe tannins. Plenty to work with here!

50 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 40 % Merlot, 10 % Petit Verdot. 17/20 2020 – 2037
