Le Point 15 / 20 byJacques Dupontthe5/21/2015 Nez fruits noirs, mûre, épices, bouche ronde, souple, très fondue, fruits noirs, tanins souples, veloutés. Finale relevée.
Vinous 90-93 / 100 byAntonio Gallonithe5/11/2015 The 2014 Cantemerle is complete, beautiful and highly expressive. Tobacco, new leather, menthol, cloves, earthiness are all laced together, but it is the wine's exceptional balance that stands out most. The 2014 finishes with notable energy and an invigorating sense of freshness. I won't be surprised if the 2014 comes towards the higher end of this range once bottled.
The Wine Cellar Insider 90-92 / 100 byJeff Levethe5/5/2015 Opening with sweet, ripe aromas of flowers, black and red fruits, espresso and earth, the wine offers silky tannins, notes of sweet, ripe dark red fruits with a soft, forward edge to the finish. 90-92 Pts
Wine Advocate 87-89 / 100 byNeal Martinthe4/30/2015 The Château Cantemerle 2014 has a bright and slightly glossy bouquet with blackcherries and boysenberry fruit, hints of tobacco and gravel coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with quite "fat" tannin that lend this Cantemerle weight in the mouth, although I would have liked more precision and terroir-expression to surface on the finish. This is a "stocky" Cantemerle at the moment that just needs more sophistication.
My Bettane + Desseauve 16,5 / 20 by Bettane & Desseauvethe4/23/2015 Droit, fruit rouge assez vif, attaque souple puis beaucoup de fraîcheur et délégance. Texture déjà fondue, finesse aromatique certaine, tanin enveloppant et soyeux, exxcellent style.
Jancis Robinson 16 / 20 byJancis Robinsonthe4/21/2015 Blackish crimson. Very opulent and perfumed. Rather light and simple though certainly friendly in the short term. Tannins are a little underripe with some greenness. Certainly respectable even if not a standout. Drink 2019-2026
Asian Palate 88 / 100 byJeannie Cho Lee MWthe4/20/2015 Supple and layered with ripe blackberry and cassis fruit. It is balanced and easy to enjoy with charming forward fruit with firm tannins. Well made, ready to drink in about 4 years.
Decanter.com 16,75 / 20 bySteven Spurrierthe4/17/2015 Lovely floral red and black fruits of fine clarity and depth. This château has really now come into its own and 2014 suits it perfectly; a lovely wine. Drink: 2018-2028 (89)
Jamessuckling.com 93-94 / 100 byJames Sucklingthe4/10/2015 This is a knockout. Excellent concentration of fruit and firm tannins. Very, very long. Fruity and intense. Same quality or better than 2010. Impressive.
Wine Enthusiast 92 / 100 byRoger Vossthe4/1/2015 91–93. Barrel Sample. While the wine does have a strongly dry element, it also has a creamy, black currant background that shows promise for the future. With great acidity offering freshness, this wine will balance well. — R.V. (4/1/2015)
Wine Spectator 90-93 / 100 byJames Molesworththe3/31/2015 Rock-solid, with a lovely loamy edge to the steeped currant and blackberry fruit. Hints of warm paving stone and smoldering tobacco emerge on the finish, andshould develop with time. A textbook Médoc Cabernet.
