Fully mature and very attractive, the 2000 Brane Cantenac, which started a succession of brilliant wines from this famous estate in the Margaux appellation, has a dark plum/ruby/purple color, a sweet, juicy nose of blue, red, and black fruits, and a hint of damp earth as well as subtle herbs. Spicy, round, complex, very lush, and at its plateau of maturity, this wine should continue to drink well for another 10-15 years at minimum. This is Margaux elegance and silkiness at its very best.... Drink 2010-2025.

Le vin s'était magnifiquement dégusté lors de la campagne pimeurs et il avait fait l'objet d'un véritable engouement. Si la robe est assez sombre, le nez intense de caisse se révèle assez dense, la matière d'honnête qualité, le milieu de bouche assez plein, la longueur moyenne..la qualité des tanins et le raffinement des saveurs sont siglés du magnifique terroir de Brane. Undeniably the finest Brane-Cantenac in 40-50 years, the deep ruby/purple-colored 2000's beautiful aromatics of smoke, black currants, tobacco, earth, and flowers jump from the glass. In the mouth, it is pure, elegant, medium-bodied, with savory tannin and adequate acidity, and a measured yet authoritatively flavored mid-palate and finish. How encouraging it is to see this property get its act together. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020.

The 2000 is undoubtedly the greatest Brane Cantenac in the post World War II era. Its dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by spectacular aromas of graphite, black currants, tobacco, earth, and an intriguing floral note. The stunning aromatic display is followed by a rich, opulent, seamless, medium-bodied wine with great concentration as well as fabulous purity. It is a sensational effort! Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020+. This is an up and coming star of the Margaux appellation. Proprietor Henri Lurton has taken full control, reduced yields, and begun to make wines befitting this famous estate's second-place position in the 1855 classification of the wines of Bordeaux.

Pas encore très brillante, la robe est un peu claire sur les bords, le nez est discret et s'exprime à l'air, fruité et élégant. L'attaque est fraîche, la matière s'avère tout de suite ferme, avec beaucoup de finesse, une belle charpente tannique er du fruit sur la longueur. Un vin équilibré,fin, droit et long, avec toute la texture soyeuse attendue de margaux.

This famous property, which has long underperformed, has been resurrected over recent vintages, particularly since 1998. The dense ruby/purple-colored 2000 offers complex, elegant, floral notes intermixed with black currant, cherry, smoke, and earth. Rich and velvety-textured, with a long, impressive, seamless finish, this pure, concentrated, mouthfilling Brane-Cantenac is a tribute to the young Henri Lurton, who has done a terrific job in reestablishing this estate to its rightful pedigree. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2020.
