Good full red-ruby. Perfumed but subdued nose hints at blackberry, licorice, violet and crushed rock; slightly medicinal today. Then unforthcoming but not hard, with good mineral lift and a lightly herbal, medicinal quality to the moderately ripe middle palate. Firmly tannic on the back end. Stylish but not particularly sweet, and in need of patience. (87(+?) points)

The strongest effort from Canon since 1982 and before 2009, the 2007 (75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc) exhibits a dark ruby/purple color along with a beautiful bouquet of crushed rocks, boysenberries, blueberries, black raspberries, and licorice. The soft tannins, classic feel and texture, and medium to full-bodied, lengthy finish with no hard edges make for an enjoyable, potentially complex wine to drink over the next 15 years.... This exhibits sliced plum, chocolate and toffee notes. Medium-bodied, with a light plum fruit character and a medium, silky finish. Slightly one-dimensional at this stage, but harmonious. Best after 2012.

Good medium ruby. Black cherry aromas lifted by a violet perfume. Ripe and moderately fleshy, with an attractive restrained sweetness to the fruit-driven flavors of cherry and blackberry. Could use a bit more flesh to support its firm tannins, but this may come with elevage

Kräfitges Rubingranat, violette Randaufhellung. In der Nase verhalten, frische Kirsch-Zwetschken-Frucht, feine Kräuterwürze. Am Gaumen sehr fein, dezente, angenehm seidige Tannine, zarte Extraktsüße, bereits sehr ausgewogen, antrinkbar, sehr harmonischer, aber auch sehr zarter Wein.

Avec la moitié du vignoble arraché et replanté depuis 10 ans, Canon ne s'affiche pas encore parmi les vins les plus impressionnants de la famille des premiers. Après les progrès de ces dernières années, 2007 est malheureusement moins bien réussi. Les vieilles vignes n'ont pas apporté la concentration et la corpulence que le millésime réclamait pour compenser le poids des jeunes vignes. Le vin est cependant très agréable et friand avec la souplesse et la fluidité du millésime.

Couleur rouge, sombre, belle, pourpre. Bonne intensité. Nez fruité, moyennement aromatique, de type très mûr. Bouche douce et soyeuse. Le vin se développe aromatique avec du gras. Le cru confirme son style au toucher très soyeux. Finale de bonne longueur sur un grain fin.

Minerals and a strong Cabernet Franc nose. Attractive aromatics and a bit more beef on the palate than some of its peers. Quite complete and confident with a beginning, middle and end, even if the fruit tastes as though it was picked pretty late. Perhaps not quite enough refreshment factor - almost some heat on the finish! Very unusual for 2007… 16+
