The 2023 Canon Pécresse has quite a loamy nose, dark berry fruit mixed with brown spices, a little more austere than expected. The palate is medium-bodied with sharp tannins, fine acidity, though a little dryness on the finish. This seems to have suffered during its barrel maturation. Two bottles tasted.

Spiced dark currants, black cherries and some blue fruit and minerals on the nose. Juicy, medium- to full-bodied and structured, with fine-grained, chalky tannins and a fresh, solid finish showing fruit and minerals. 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc. From organically grown grapes. Drink from 2026.

Frisches und präzises Bouquet mit fruchtigen und mentholhaltigen Nuancen. Der Wein zeigt eine gewisse Breite am Gaumen. Seine Tannine sind gut eingebunden und stehen im Einklang mit der frischen Säurestruktur. Ein angenehmer und harmonischer Wein.

Located on the limestone plateau and an enjoyable Cabernet Franc-dominant wine. Great freshness, inky and full of vibrant tannins that are a touch rustic but with energy, direction, blue fruits and a mouthwatering finish. This is a change of style, one to look out for. 35hl/h yield. Now owned by La Dauphine (buying from the director of Radio France).

The 2023 Canon Pécresse has an intense nose with plenty of red and black fruit, but it manages to deliver that with admirable precision and satisfying oak integration. The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe entry, fine acidity and just a bit of chewiness on the finish. Overall, this is a commendable Canon Fronsac.

Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Ripe black cherry and plum, candied orange zest, delicate hints of fig. Juicy, elegant, ripe plum, round tannins, dark nougat, mineral and persistent, a full-bodied food wine with certain ageing potential.
