Beaujolais Villages 2015 - Mommessin
Heiress of the Cluniac monks who cleared and planted the land they owned around Mâcon, Maison Mommessin finds its origins in southern Burgundy. Jean-Marie Mommessin established himself in 1865 in Grange-Saint-Pierre, a former outbuilding of the Abbey of Cluny, whose key became the emblem of the house. The purchase of the famous Clos de Tart in 1932 sealed the establishment of the house in the heart of Burgundy, before its headquarters was transferred to Quincié-en-Beaujolais after more than a century of presence in Mâconnais. This double filiation is the exception of the Mommessin wines resulting from an encounter between the quest for excellence that characterizes Burgundy and the explosion of taste that makes the grandeur of Beaujolais. From now on, it is in the midst of the green hills of Beaujolais that the history of Maison Mommessin is written between vineyards and know-how of trader-breeder steeped in Burgundy traditions.
