Baronarques Rouge - Limoux 2022
Domaine de Baronarques: a century-old history
Domaine de Baronarques, located near Limoux in the Languedoc region, dates back to 780, though it was acquired by the Rothschild family in 1998. The estate covers 110 hectares, with 43 hectares under vine, nestled on a piedmont. Situated 400 km from the Atlantic and 100 km from the Mediterranean, the vineyard benefits from both climates, receiving ample sunlight and balanced rainfall. Its proximity to the Pyrenees moderates summer heat, with vineyard altitudes ranging from 250 to 350 meters. The soil is primarily clay-limestone, with some gravelly and sandy parcels.

The 2022 Vintage:
The 2022 vintage began with early budbreak for Chardonnay on March 21st, followed by red varieties in mid-April. Despite a cold snap, protective measures prevented frost damage. Flowering was quick and trouble-free, while hot and wet June weather accelerated vine growth, making 2022 the earliest vintage.
Tasting notes:
Deep and intense red with a garnet hue. On the nose, a rich and complex array of berry fruit aromas, especially raspberry and bilberry, mingle with subtle spice notes and delicate touches of vanilla and cocoa. Remarkable balance and a well-defined structure are underpinned by silky, harmoniously well-integrated tannins that leave an admirable impression of heft as the dense and creamy texture evolves on the palate. Flavours of garrigue fruit, mocha and chocolate are lifted by floral notes that combine freshness with an elegance that lingers on a long and delicate finish.
