Alberelli di Giodo rosso - Sicilia DOC 2022
Alberelli di Giodo: The Volcanic Signature of Etna
The story of Giodo in Montalcino began in 2002 with the acquisition by Carlo Ferrini, an internationally renowned oenologist, of one hectare in the Brunello appellation. Although he had worked in Sicily for over twenty years, he was captivated by Etna and the Nerello Mascalese grape. Thus began the story of Alberelli di Giodo, with its first vintage in 2016.
In Passopisciaro, on the northern slope of Etna, the grapes are hand-harvested between late September and mid-October, then fermented and macerated in open steel tanks. This method produces wines with a fruity profile and unique structure.
The red vineyard extends over 2 hectares, where pre-phylloxera vines aged 80 to 100 years coexist with olive trees and fruit trees.
This red wine ages for 18 months in large oak barrels of 500 and 700 liters, followed by additional time in concrete tanks. A total of 9,000 bottles are produced from the 2022 vintage.
